Snowman Snow Ruler

Snow rules! Measure the accumulation (big or small!) with a snowman snow ruler you can make at home.

Supplies:

  • Crayola Acrylic Paint
  • Pencil
  • Disposable Plate
  • Ribbon
  • Crayola Paint Brush
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Ruler

CIY Staff Tips:

  • A spoon with a flat handle works best for this project!
  • Getting more than a few inches? Attach the Snowman Snow Ruler to a yard stick.

Steps:

Step 1

Cover spoon in white paint. Dry 1–2 hours. Add second coat of paint. Dry 1–2 hours.

Step 2

Use ruler and pencil to mark 1” increments on spoon handle.

Paint facial features on bowl of spoon

Step 4

Paint over pencil measurements. Let all paint steps dry 1–2 hours.

Step 5

Tie ribbon around neck of spoon.

Step 6

Place in the snow to measure how much has accumulated!
