Turtle Suncatcher

  • Crayola Crayons
  • Crayola Crayon Sharpener
  • Crayola Scissors
  • Crayola Construction Paper
  • Crayola No. 2 Pencil
Crayola Glue Stick
  • Crayola Markers
  • Wax Paper
  • Duct Tape
  • Hair Dryer
  • Wiggle Eyes

  • This craft includes the use of a hair dryer. Adult assistance required.
  • A pencil sharpener will work if you don’t have a crayon sharpener on hand.

Steps:

Step 1

Unwrap 2–3 crayons, then use crayon sharpener to create shavings.

Step 2

Lay piece of wax paper on protected surface. Evenly sprinkle shavings onto wax paper.

Step 3

Place slightly larger piece of wax paper overtop. Seal edges with duct tape.

Step 4

With the help of an adult, use hair dryer to melt shavings. Let cool 15 minutes.

Step 5

Cut circle out of wax paper.

Step 6

Sketch and cut out construction paper head, legs, and tail.

Step 7

Glue head, legs, and tail to wax paper.

Step 8

Flip wax paper over. Glue wiggle eyes to head.

Draw details with markers for an ex-shell-ent turtle suncatcher!
