Kids create the characters, their costumes, the sets-and all the fun. Keep your video cameras rolling!
Use your favorite story, fairy tale, athletes, or movie characters as inspiration for your characters.
Lightly draw characters on a recycled file folder or piece of thin cardboard from a cereal box with Crayola® Colored Pencils. Then draw in and color details such as hair and facial expressions. Cut out your characters with Crayola Scissors.
To make costumes, trace lightly around the character on construction paper with a pencil. Then draw clothing shapes around the tracing so the clothing will fit the character. Color in the clothing designs.
When you're finished creating the costumes, draw some small, square-shaped tabs on the clothing shapes, usually at the shoulders and along the sides. These tabs will hold the clothing costumes on your characters.
Cut out your costumes, making sure to cut around the tabs. Bend the clothing tabs around the character so that the clothing stays on.
Use Crayola Model Magic as a base so the characters can stand up. Use Model Magic to make props for the drama, too.
Write a new ending to a favorite story, or create a brand new one using the drama dolls as the actors. Use shoeboxes for a stage. Video tape the show for a private screening for friends and family. Don't forget the popcorn!
