Use Crayola Markers on coffee filters and paper towels to create vibrant, customizable poinsettia flowers for a holiday wreath!
Use Crayola Washable Markers to colour a design on coffee filters. Use red to create poinsettia flowers and green to create poinsettia leaves. Create enough to fill a wreath!
Set the coffee filters on a protected surface. Dip a Crayola Paint Brush into a jar of water and apply the water directly to your coffee filters. Watch as the colour spreads and wicks! Let dry for 3-4 hours.
While coffee filters are drying, wrap a foam circle wreath with tulle or the fabric of your choice. Tie a knot at the end of the tulle and tape or pin down the ends to secure completely.
Once fully dried, make cut marks with Crayola Scissors around the red coffee filters to create the poinsettia flower shapes. Trim the green coffee filters in various shapes and sizes of poinsettia leaves. We added even more detail with our markers!
Using a red pipe cleaner, poke a hole through the middle of a flower and pull through approximately 2 inches; then, bend the pipe cleaner to create the center of the flower. With the remaining length of the pipe cleaner, wrap the the flower around the wreath and twist around itself to secure.
Using a green pipe cleaner, poke a hole through the end of 2 leaves and pull through approximately 2 inches; then, bend the pipe cleaner to secure the leaves together. Place the leaves slightly under the flower. With the remaining length of the pipe cleaner, wrap the leaves around the leaf and twist around itself to secure. If your flower or leaf feels too loose, use a small piece of tape or a small amount of glue to hold it in place.
Repeat steps 5-6 until you’ve filled the wreath with flowers and leaves.
Hang your wreath in your home to complete your holiday decorations! You can also lay the wreath flat on a table and add festive ornaments to use as a centerpiece.
