Fall Window Decorations

Fall Window Decorations

Learn to create festive fall-themed window decorations with supplies you already have in your craft drawer and around the house!

Supplies Needed: Crayola Watercolours, Crayola Markers, Crayola Paint Brush, Crayola Construction Paper, Crayola Coloured Pencils, Crayola Scissors, Crayola Glue Stick, Water, Coffee Filters, Craft Sticks, Jar and Clear Tape

  • 1.

To begin creating the backing of your window decorations, pop a Crayola Watercolour tablet out of its packaging and place in a small bowl or ramekin. With an adult’s help, add ¼ cup of hot water to the bowl, and stir with a craft stick until the watercolour tablet has dissolved completely. Experiment with different fall colours like red, orange, and yellow!

  • 2.

Lay a coffee filter on a flat, protected surface. Dip a Crayola Paint Brush into the watercolour mixture(s) and paint directly onto the coffee filter. Set aside to dry.

  • 3.

For an alternative method of colouring your coffee filters, use Crayola Markers to colour a design on a coffee filter. Fold the coffee filter over into a triangle shape. Place the folded coffee filter in a small jar of water so that the tip of the triangle touches the water. Watch as the colour spreads and wicks away! When the colour has spread, remove the coffee filter from the water and set aside to dry.

  • 4.

While the coffee filters are drying, create the silhouette for your window decorations. Draw an outline of your decoration on a piece of black Crayola Construction Paper with a white Crayola Coloured Pencil. Make lines about ¼” thick. Create fall-themed shapes like leaves, pumpkins, acorns, and more!

  • 5.

Cut out the shapes with Crayola Scissors. Ask an adult to cut out the intricate inside portions of the design with a craft knife if necessary.
